Nature Walk May 2023

Our nature walk was led by Dr Ian Beavis, entomologist and natural history specialist. The day was sunny and warm but also windy which kept some of the butterflies and moths away. However we all enjoyed the event and here is a list of the flowers and insects he identified:

Flora:

Mouse Ear Hawkweed

Bulbous Buttercup (rarer than the other varieties. Sepals turn backwards)

Meadow Buttercup

Bird’s Foot Trefoil

Cuckoo Flower (also known as Ladies Smock, or Milkmaid) This is a food plant of the Orange Tip Buttefly)
